What happens when you mute a video here
A video file is a container holding separate tracks: usually one video track and one audio track. Muting doesn't need to touch the picture. SqueezeVideos reads the container, copies the video track as it is into a fresh MP4, and leaves the audio track out. Because nothing is decoded or re-encoded, even a long clip finishes in seconds.
If you also trim the clip, the video has to be re-encoded so that the cut can land on any frame. The tool tells you when that happens.

Questions people ask
Does removing the audio reduce quality?
No. With "keep the picture exactly as it is" ticked, SqueezeVideos copies the video stream bit for bit into a new file and simply leaves the sound track out. Nothing is re-encoded.
How much smaller does a muted video get?
By the size of the sound track: roughly 1 MB per minute at 128 kbps. That matters a lot for small targets and very little for a large 4K file.
Can I mute only part of the video?
Not here. This tool removes the whole audio track. Trimming the clip at the same time is possible, but it re-encodes the picture.
Is the video uploaded?
No. The file is processed in your browser and never leaves your device.
