SqueezeVideos

Extract audio from video

Keep the sound, drop the picture. Save a clip's audio as an M4A file, losslessly when the track is already AAC.

Copy, not convert

Most phone and camera videos store sound as AAC. An .m4a file is simply an MP4 container holding only that AAC track, so SqueezeVideos can move the track across as it is: instant and bit-for-bit identical. Opus or other formats (common in WebM and MKV) are converted to AAC at 192 kbps.

Questions people ask

How do I get just the audio from a video?

Drop the video above and press Extract audio. The sound track is saved as an .m4a file. If it is already AAC (as in most phone videos), it is copied without re-encoding, so there is no quality loss.

Can I get MP3 instead of M4A?

This tool saves M4A (AAC), which plays on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac and keeps the original quality when copied. MP3 would always require re-encoding.

Can I extract only part of the audio?

Yes, set the trim start and end before extracting.

Is the video uploaded?

No. The audio is pulled out by your browser; the file never leaves your device.
